Mac laptops can run the Windows operating system.

Microsoft Virtual PC is a software program that lets you run the Windows operating system on a Mac computer. As long as Virtual PC is installed, you can run Windows-only software programs on your Mac, eliminating the need to run two separate computers.

  1. Types

    • Uninstall directions may differ depending on the version of Virtual PC and the Mac operating system you have installed. Confirm which version you are running when looking up uninstall directions.

    Uninstall Process

    • Quit any open virtual machines. Choose "Applications" from the left-hand menu of any Finder window. Drag the "Virtual PC" folder into the trash can. Empty the trash. If you have your original application CD, you can alternately insert the CD and select "Uninstall Virtual PC" to walk through an uninstall wizard.

    Considerations

    • Removing the Virtual PC application will not necessarily remove all related files from your Mac. Search or browse your computer for related files, such as virtual machine files in your Documents folder or in your Preferences pane. Delete any related files you do not need.
