Shark attacks in shallow water are very rare, but occasionally a shark does venture in from deeper water. Though it prefers to go after easy prey, if a human comes into contact with a shark, the shark may attack. Sharks should be avoided at all costs.
Barracudas

Barracudas are found mainly in tropical oceans. They, too, don't often wander into shallow water, but when they do, can be very aggressive toward humans. They may mistake a human for a large predator and attempt to bite; however, they are mainly scavengers and try not to go after tough prey.

Two other kinds of sea creatures to avoid in shallow water are the blue-ringed octopus and the sea snake. The blue-ringed octopus resides in rock pools and is not aggressive by nature, but if stepped on or provoked, will bite. Its poison can cause paralysis in humans. The sea snake is also not aggressive by nature, but is curious about humans and may follow them around. Their bites, though more venomous than a land snake, are often "blank," or without venom.
