What Is Monoject?

What Is Monoject? thumbnail
Taking the right amount of insulin is important in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes.

Those living with Type 1 diabetes often need to give themselves insulin injections and must learn how to handle syringes, lancets, and other insulin testing supplies to maintain control over their glucose levels. Monoject is a brand name syringe used in the diabetic treatment process.

  1. Accuracy

    • Monoject is a syringe used for the delivery of insulin which is meant to eliminate dead space for more accurate dosages and the least amount of insulin waste when injected.

    Sizes

    • The Monoject syringes have varying capacities including 1cc, .5 cc, and .03 cc depending on the amount of insulin that needs to be administered to the diabetic.

    Allergies

    • For those who have an adverse reaction to latex, the Monoject syringe is latex free to reduce allergic reactions.

    Safety

    • The Monoject has a safety shield with a locking mechanism to protect the health care worker or the person administering insulin during transport and after use. The transport position is also believed to reduce the number of needle-stick injuries.

    Pricing

    • As of September, 2010, the pricing ranges from $13 to $14 for a box of 100 syringes depending on the amount of insulin to be administered.
