What Do You Wear to a 50s Sock Hop?
Choosing the right outfit for a 50s sock hop can be difficult. You need to decide whether you want to go for the "good" or "bad" look. Then you can put your outfit and accessories together and work on your hair. Does this Spark an idea?

Sock hops were held for teens in their high school gyms. Shoes were taken off to keep from marking the floors as well as to help them slide with some of the different dances. Sock hops are still done today, but usually only in country clubs and camps.
Women's Fashion

If your going for the "good girl" look, you need a poodle skirt or swing skirt and a button-up shirt of any color, tucked in. Add a chiffon scarf around your neck. Bobby socks and saddle shoes will complete the outfit. Put you hair into a ponytail and add another chiffon scarf to complete the look.
To get the "bad girl" look, you need tight-fitting Capri pants, a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the shirttails tied at the waist. Add bobby socks and saddle shoes. Put on some bright red lipstick, pop in some bubble gum and throw on a leather jacket to complete the look.

To get the "good boy" look, you need a pair of slacks, a button-up shirt of any color, a cotton vest or full sweater, and loafers or oxford shoes. Part hair on one side and comb it over.
To achieve the "bad boy" look, wear a pair of jeans with the cuffs rolled, a white or black T-shirt tucked in and a leather jacket. Motorcycle boots or any black boots would complete the look. Your hair should be done in an Elvis-style 'do.
