Define a Duvet Cover
Bedroom decorating has become more challenging over the years as new items and terms were introduced. Duvet and duvet cover are among the phrases used to describe certain types of bedding. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Definition
-
A duvet cover encloses the duvet in a large fabric pouch that resembles a huge pillowcase. The cover closes with a zipper, buttons or snaps. A duvet is the filling, usually made of polyfill material or down.
Advantages
-
When comforters need cleaning, it is frequently difficult to fit them into a standard automatic washer and dryer. Even with over-sized appliances, thorough cleaning and drying can be challenging. A duvet cover can easily be removed and washed, without the bulky filling. The duvet can be dry cleaned or washed separately.

Word Origin
-
Duvet is a French word that means down, as in the feathers of a fowl, usually a goose when used in bedding products. Before the invention of polyfill, down was commonly used as filling for duvets and comforters.
