Holiday Decorating With Candles
Candles aid traditional holiday celebrations for many peoples. Christians use candles to celebrate the birth of Jesus and Jews celebrate Hanukkah, The Festival of Lights. The African-Amercian Kwanzaa festival focuses on candles and Hindu have Diwali, another light festival, in early December. Does this Spark an idea?

Christmas Traditions

Christmas candles are decorations all over the world. In Italy they sit in windows to light the way for the Christ Child. In modern day England candles that burn all through Christmas day without going out will bestow a year's good luck. Scandinavians light candles to set on graves during the holidays.
Outside Decorations

Luminaries are traditional candle decorations that line streets, best known in Mexico but becoming more popular almost everywhere. Punch or cut a design into a paper bag that is held down with sand and illumined by a votive candle. Mason jars half-filled with sand are safer.

The Hearth

Fill the fireplace and hearth with all different kinds of candles. Set them at various heights and use different shapes and sizes to create a festive atmosphere.
The Table

Fill a large clear vase or bowl with water. Place lemon or orange slices and a few cranberries in the water then add a floating candle. Surround the vase or bowl with evergreen and pine cones for a dining room table centerpiece.
