Clinical Research Assistant Certification
A certified clinical research assistant can expect an annual salary of $53,670 or higher, and the profession is expected to grow by 14 percent through 2018. A research assistant monitors clinical trials and conducts analyses and studies for research organizations. Undergraduate and graduate level programs in research assistance are available, and certified assistants have more earning potential and greater advancement opportunities than others.

Obtain an associate's degree or equivalent experience in the clinical research field at a minimum, prior to applying for certification. Demonstrate strong communications and writing skills with the ability to communicate with healthcare professionals and researchers effectively. Obtain computer skills training and experience, and learn proficiency with spreadsheets for data collection and evaluation.
Coursework

Complete coursework during educational pursuit that includes clinical trial implementation and planning, epidemiology, medical terminology, biostatistics and clinical trial management. Become familiar with FDA inspections, and understand how they impact research projects.

Apply to the Association of Clinical Research Professionals or the Society of Clinical Research Associates for certification. Pass the certification examinations and fulfill the minimum certification requirements to attain the certified clinical research associate (CCRA) designation.
