How to Compare Temp Agencies

How to Compare Temp Agencies thumbnail
A phone is all it takes to search for a temp agency.

In today's tough job market, job seekers might opt for consulting with a temporary job agency in order to find a temporary job. That temporary job position could lead to full time employment. Compare the agencies of interest and choose carefully.

  1. Research

    • Check out each temp agency at its website. If they don't have a website, you're probably not interested. Also, check the Sunday newspaper for job listings. Chances are the local paper has a section just for temp agencies, but if not, peruse all the job listings and see which employment agencies are posting job openings.

    Calls

    • Based on the information obtained through research, approach all prospective temp agencies in a phone call. Your objective is to get a feel for the personnel, double check on job availabilities and arrange for a preliminary interview.

    Visits

    • Hopefully with a good phone persona and sufficient work history, you will be asked to come in for an interview. Take a list of questions with you to see what each place has to offer. A visit to each agency should help you make the final decision, although a solid job offer could be the deciding factor.
