Crossbows are measured first by the pounds of pull it takes to arch the bow and lock the string into the firing mechanism. Generally, the higher the pounds-of-pull, the greater the arrow speed. However, due to innovative technology, some crossbows are capable of arrow speeds as high or higher than competitive models with higher pulls. High arrow speed translates into better accuracy and range.
