The Maxim family of funds offers a choice of 54 funds.

Maxim Funds offers 54 mutual funds in a variety of asset classes, including fixed-income investments, or bonds. Of these bond funds, only one of them, the Maxim Global Bond Portfolio (MXGBX), routinely invests in international bonds.

  1. Preparation

    • International investing has a number of unique risks, including country- and region-specific risks and currency risks. You should download the company prospectus and read it carefully.

    How to Buy

    • You cannot purchase the fund directly from the company, but must go through a financial advisor or broker. But unlike many fund companies, which allow access through many different brokerages, Maxim Funds has very limited brokerage availability. As of September 2010, you can only purchase Maxim Funds through MetLife Resources, a division of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

    Who to Contact

    • To gain access to the Maxim Global Bond Portfolio, contact your local MetLife financial representative. He will need to hold a Series 6 license, as the Global Bond Portfolio is a variable product. Use the MetLife link in Resources to find an agent or financial representative.
