Italian Kitchen Colors & Decorating

Your Italian kitchen can be as traditional or modern as you would like.

If you're decorating your kitchen with an Italian theme, there are a few color schemes you can use to make the space look authentic. Your personal decorating style or Italian heritage can help you to determine which colors to use.

Significance

You can pay homage to the region of Italy that your family is from in your kitchen decor. If your family is from Bologna, for instance, use pictures of the Italian countryside around the city, which will include colors like green or brown. Use light green or deep purple to decorate the kitchen if your family is from an area such as Messina or Trentino.

Types

For a Tuscan theme, colors like tan, bronze and gold are best. If you're looking to decorate a 'traditional' Italian-themed kitchen, it's best to use the colors white, green, and red--the colors of the Italian flag. Use color-appropriate decorations sparingly in a small kitchen.
