Dental Sedation training can aid existing dentist.

When local anesthesia is not enough to ensure patient comfort, the patient may need to undergo sedation. For current dentists or dental assistants, dental sedation courses can be taken to ensure proper administration and patient care.

  1. Training Length

    • Courses for dental sedation can be taken at state-approved programs such as DOCS Education. The courses are typically for current dentists and can be taken over a period of three days, with the courses being offered periodically throughout the week.

    Course Content

    • The main goal of the training is to learn how to administer anesthesia safely and effectively. The training courses will cover current regulations on issuing anesthesia, patient monitoring, and how to measure the correct amount of medication that should be administered.

    Training Cost

    • Tuition for dental sedation training can be relatively hefty. For example, for DOCS Education members the tuition is $8,500 as of 2010. For non-members, the tuition is $9,500.
