A lawn care business can provide extra income or it can be a profitable main source of income. Those who wish to start a lawn care business must have certain equipment to do the best job possible. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Advertising
-
Advertising your new lawn care business is one way to drum up customers. Business cards are a good way to introduce yourself and leave your phone number with customers. Leaving business cards with residential customers is a good idea and these customers often provide more business by word of mouth. Another advertising necessity is an ad either in your local newspaper, the Yellow Pages or both.
Equipment
-
Lawn care requires transporting equipment from job-to-job, so you must have a reliable truck and trailer. Other lawn care equipment such as lawn mowers, blowers, a trimmer, an edger, rakes, shovels, a small gas can, a sprayer and pesticides are lawn care essentials.
-
Permits
-
Check with the county in the state in which you live to determine if any occupational license or special permits are needed to run your own lawn care business. Some counties require occupational permits in which a fee must be paid. Depending on the size of your lawn care business, you may need worker's compensation insurance, as well.
