Process

The HR department conducts a training needs analysis to determine the gaps between organizational requirements and existing skills. It then develops programs that will close the gaps. It must continuously evaluate and improve course offerings to suit specific needs.

Training programs depend on the needs, size and budget of the organization. These may include the following programs: orientation, management and professional development, staff development, educational assistance, apprenticeship, safety and risk management.
Responsibilities

Training is a joint responsibility of management and employees. Management provides the environment conducive to learning and the resources that support development. Employees must look for and take advantage of learning opportunities.
