    Experience

    • The greater the experience, the higher the pay. Entry-level employees earn approximately $35,115 a year. With one to four years of work experience, marketers can make $40,567 yearly, and with five to nine years experience, they receive about $53,622 a year. After 10 to 19 years of experience, marketers may earn $53,622 a year, and at 20 or more years of experience, marketers may earn $86,450 a year, according to PayScale in September 2010.

    Location

    • The city of employment affects pay with San Francisco offering the highest median salary for marketers at $62,201 a year, followed by Boston at $55,859 a year. At the lower end are Minneapolis, which pays $47,523 and Chicago at $51,418 a year. This data comes from September 2010 PayScale reports.
