At the time, the decorating emphasis in the home was on simplicity. One room opened to another with the use of similar materials and furnishings in each room to pull the look together.

The 1920's saw a change in the trend of bathroom decor. According to 1920-30.com, bathrooms before the 20's were merely functional. However, afterward they turned into quite the fashion statement with their use of bright colors like green, blue and yellow. Additionally, the 1920's saw the Art Deco movement unveiled. The movement followed the Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Art Deco featured materials like hard, decorative stone, such as marble, and precious gems and metals as inlays in furniture pieces like coffee tables. Geometric designs on lampshades found popularity during this time as well.
Considerations

Because of its streamlined style, Art Deco has received some criticism. According to Best Top Design, people criticized it because this 1920s style appeared too stark or sterile.
