Wording Guide for Baby Shower Invitations thumbnail
A baby shower is a great time to celebrate your family.

Baby shower invitations run the gamut from cute and sweet to classic and engraved. However, regardless of the invitation you choose for your baby shower, make sure that your wording is correct and communicates all necessary information to your guests. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Basic Information

    • The most important part of the invitation, this simple information will tell your guests what they will celebrate, when the celebration will take place (and at what time), where, and how to RSVP. Don't forget any of this information; otherwise, you may have many guests calling to request it or, worse, simply not showing up.

    Baby Herself

    • Make your invitation more lively by using phrases that refer to the baby herself. Sample phrases might include:

      - Come join us to celebrate the arrival of our bundle of joy!

      - Sugar and spice and everything nice -- that's what our little girl will be made of!

      - Celebrate the arrival of our new sweetheart by joining us for an afternoon of games and fun.

    Parents

    • If you, as the parents, are throwing the shower yourselves, feel free to use the first person in your invitations. However, if you are hosting as a friend or a grandparent, make it clear who the parents are. Sample wording you might use could include:

      - Jake and Jordan are expecting! Come celebrate with us.

      - Jake and Jordan's little boy will soon become the newest member of their family. Join us on June 7th to celebrate his arrival in advance.
