High-impact, low-cost decorations include Chinese lanterns.

Chinese party decorations should reflect the symbolism and tradition of Chinese culture. Using large statement decorations will add easy color and style instead of a lot of small details. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Colors

    • Red and gold are traditional colors of the culture, but any brightly colored decorations are appropriate for Chinese celebrations. Use large tissue paper flowers in bright colors to decorate the party area.

    Animals

    • Animals are central to Chinese culture. Consider Chinese New Year, which celebrates the arrival of a new year based on the 12 animals of the Chinese calendar. Relevant animals are the horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, pig, rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon and snake. Incorporate any of these animals for authentic Chinese flair.

    Lanterns

    • The Chinese Mid Autumn Festival is a day set aside to watch the moon. On this day, people walk to high places that ensure a good viewing of the moon carrying paper lanterns in different shapes, such as cats, dogs, airplanes, boats and pictures of gods. Paper lanterns make a statement at your party without costing a fortune.
