How do I Clean Microfiber Couch Seat Covers?
Microfiber fabric is often used for couch seat covers because of its ability to repel water and stains. It is easily damaged, though, by too much water and has specific cleaning requirements. Does this Spark an idea?

Care Labels
-
The care labels are always the first consideration when cleaning furniture. Microfiber furniture is made of polyester, but varies in the care required. Water and soap may safely treat some microfiber (indicated by a "W" on the care label). All other types require dry cleaning solvents or special cleaners.
Routine Cleaning
-
Vacuuming microfiber furniture weekly with the soft brush attachment of the vacuum minimizes dirt build-up and prevents excessive wear. Minor spills bead up on microfiber's water-repelling surface and are quickly blotted with a soft cloth.

Large Spills
-
Large spills are treated in two ways. Water-safe microfiber is cleaned by applying a small amount of liquid dish washing soap to a wet cloth and blotting the fabric. For all other types, commercial microfiber cleaner or a gentle, powdered laundry soap is applied to the fabric. The fabric is vacuumed to remove the detergent. Very wet conditions may leave water marks on microfiber fabrics, so drying them quickly with a fan or hair dryer is recommended.
Stains and Odors
-
Oil stains quickly permeate microfiber fabrics if not treated. They are best removed with a commercial microfiber cleaner or a product, such as alcohol, ammonia or vodka that dissolves the stain and quickly evaporates. Baking soda, applied to furniture and then vacuumed up, effectively absorbs odors.
