How to Compare Satellite TV Providers & Satellite TV Companies

How to Compare Satellite TV Providers & Satellite TV Companies thumbnail
Decide what you want from satellite TV before choosing a provider.

Choosing the right satellite television package depends on what you want from satellite TV and how much you are prepared to pay each month. Because the satellite TV market is fiercely competitive, providers usually won't charge for equipment or an installation fee but you will pay a monthly subscription to watch the service.

  1. Channels

    • The size of the monthly fee depends on the channel package you select. Bear in mind you'll be signing up for a specified time, usually a minimum of one year.

The two main satellite TV operators in the U.S., Direct TV and Dish Network, both offer basic and premium packages with a range of high-definition, entertainment, sports, news, music, local, international and adult TV channels. They also offer pay-per-view movies and sporting events.

    Comparison

    • A sensible way to choose is to pick your favorite channels and then compare price. Many satellite TV websites provide at-a-glance comparisons, which also list special offers and can help you decide between the main providers.

    Considerations

    • To get full value from satellite TV, you should be a regular and enthusiastic TV viewer. If you watch only a few hours of TV each week, then digital terrestrial television through an antenna might be a better value option.

Being an employee with DISH there is a lot of things to consider. You always want to make sure you can get more out what you pay for. For myself I do have DISH and I do pay some fees like our customers do. I have the America top 250 and a HD receiver. Now with that being said I signed up for HD free for Life and just saved $10.00 a month. Then with my HD receiver I got the Sling adapter which gets me TV everywhere, since I'm never home on time or out doing something I could not always be in front of my TV. Well with DIRECT TV you can not get TV everywhere and what's better than having TV where ever you go like the store, doctor's appointment or even just riding a bus or light rail. I made sure if I'm paying for service I'm going to get my money worth and DISH does that for me.
