The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is engaged in various duties that affect citizen safety and quality of life. The USDA studies natural resources for current and sustainable future use. Perhaps surprisingly, the USDA is also in the loan business. Food inspection and related scientific research are another prominent USDA duty.

The USDA studies natural resources for commercial and agricultural use, as well as conservation and sustainability. Employees in this subset of the USDA analyze growing conditions, and gather soil/water samples.
Issue Loans

A part of the USDA works to issue loans. Home and refinance loans are available. Credit score, interest rate, principal outstanding (for refinance loans), and other factors are taken into account when issuing loans. Any organization with creditor/debtor dynamics requires individuals versed in finance, statistics and risk, customer relations, and relevant law.

Food Inspection

Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is the USDA branch tasked with ensuring American foods meet safety standards. The service posts compliance guidelines to make sure food producers and marketers (such as restaurants) are aware of standards and regulations pertaining to food service. FSIS employs scientists and inspectors to complete the FSIS mission.
