Party Invitation Information

Party Invitation Information thumbnail
Every party invitation should include a few specific details.

Whether you are sending out invitations to a handful of guests for a child's birthday party or 300 guests for a gala event, you should include certain details to make sure your guests are able to plan appropriately. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Occasion

    • Make it clear what kind of event you are planning. Writing "Bobby's 5th Birthday" at the top of the invitation makes it clear to your guests that you're inviting them to a birthday party. Letting guests know what occasion you're celebrating will also give them a hint on appropriate attire or whether they need to bring a gift.

    Location

    • Your guests need to know where to go for the party. You don't want 50 people showing up at your house when you have planned a soiree in the dining room of a local restaurant. Include a street address and the city to make it easy for guests to find your event.

    Date and Time

    • Include the date and time of the event. Including the day of the week also helps guests plan. For instance, write "Sunday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m." so guests have no questions about when to show up.

    RSVP

    • In order to have an accurate head count to make planning for seating and food easier, request that guests inform you whether they will be attending the party. Instead of just writing "RSVP" on the invitation, you may have better luck if you add a deadline. Including "Please RSVP by [a date]" may increase the number of timely responses you get. Include a phone number where guests can reach you.
