How to Compare LG & GE Refrigerators

Shoppers in search of a new refrigerator will find more than 850 models to choose from. If you've narrowed your criteria down to those made by LG and GE, there are ways to compare them to come to a decision.

Choices

At major retail outlets selling both brands, you find more models to choose from in the GE line. For example, in the fall of 2010, Home Depot offered 45 French-door-style refrigerators by GE and only 25 from LG. Best Buy offered eight side-by-side LG models and 40 GE models in that configuration.

Sizes

If you're looking for a super-size fridge, you can find a GE model with side-by-side doors that exceeds 29 cubic feet. One of LG's largest models is a 27.6-cubic-foot refrigerator with French doors.

Prices

If your budget is a determining factor in which model to purchase, GE may be your best bet. Shoppers could get a GE model with a top-mounted freezer for $450 in September 2010, while the lowest-price LG found among major retailers cost $540.
