1975 Jeep CJ-5 Information

The Jeep CJ-5 is one of the few cars with a lifespan lasting almost four decades. The 1975 model year was particularly noteworthy, as it was the last year before a tub and frame redesign while being one of the first produced with AMC engines.

  1. Engines

    • The 1975 CJ-5 offered a choice of three different engines. The 3.8L AMC inline-six engine produced 100 hp at 3,600 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 185 foot-lbs. of torque at 1,800 rpm while the 4.2 L AMC inline-six produced 115 hp at 3,200 rpm and 196 foot-lbs. of torque at 2,000 rpm. The 5.0 L AMC V8 generated 150 hp at 4,200 rpm and 245 foot-lbs. of torque at 2,500 rpm.

    Soft Top

    • The CJ-5 used the same tub and frame design from model years 1955 to 1975. From model years 1976 to 1983, the CJ-5 featured a redesigned tub, frame and windshield, making these model's soft tops incompatible with the the original CJ-5.

    Renegade Model

    • The 1975 CJ-5 Renegade is held in high esteem among collectors and came equipped with standard 5.0 L AMC V8 engine, alloy wheels, Trac-lock limited slip differential and special badging and decals.
