Telemarketers often call during the dinner hour.

Junk mail and telemarketing provide two different types of advertising. Both junk mail and telemarketing are designed to mass advertise to consumers, in order to get them to buy a product or service.

  1. Junk Mail

    • Junk Mail refers to a type of advertising that involves sending a message to a list of consumers through the mail. Junk mail, also known as direct marketing, is designed to get a consumer to purchase either a product or service by opting into a mailing list. Mailing lists allow a company to market products to a consumer based upon interests.

    Telemarketing

    • Telemarketing involves advertising through the use of a telephone. Designed to target a specific group of people, also known as a niche, telemarketers often call homes during peak hours, usually after you return home from work. Telemarketing is usually done without the permission of the recipient.

    Fun Facts

    • Over 5.6 million tons of junk mail end up in U.S landfills every year. The average household receives 1.5 trees' worth of junk mail every year. On average, a consumer spends a total of 8 months opening junk mail during a lifetime.
