Swimming Pool Cleaning Advice
Keeping your pool clean doesn't have to be a challenge as long as you know the basics. Create a weekly routine for basic care and prepare yourself for potential common problems and your pool should be sparkling all season long. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Weekly Routine
-
On a weekly basis, skim the surface, scrub the sides and vacuum the bottom of your pool. Clean the baskets of the pump and filter and then wash the filter. Test the water's pH, alkalinity and chemical levels using a basic testing kit and then add the appropriate chemicals to bring the water back to the recommended levels.
Cloudy Water
-
Even with proper care, your water may sometimes still get cloudy. This occurs when the sanitizing solution has started to lose effectiveness against chemicals such as ammonia. A pool shocker compound will be able to break up these chemicals and clear the water again.
-
Algae Breakouts
-
Even with proper chemical levels and cleaning routines, some pools are still prone to algae infestations. This generally occurs because your pool has excess phosphates, which provide food to the algae spores. Adding a phosphate remover to your weekly routine should keep your water pristine.
