Boys should not carry a full bridesmaid's bouquet at a wedding.

A bride and groom may wish to involve male family members or close friends in a traditionally female role in the wedding party. Boys can be chosen in place of a female bridesmaid or flower girl.

  1. Flower Bearer

    • Choose a young boy under 5 years old as a flower bearer or pageboy. Use this special opportunity to have the boy toss petals from a beach pail or more masculine item than the standard basket. Dress him in a matching short pants, tie and vest outfit or a tuxedo. Ask the boy to gently toss good luck coins instead of flower petals when he leads the bridal party.

    Wedding Page

    • Honor a boy that is special to you by asking him to be a page at the wedding in place of a bridesmaid. The pageboy may carry the 13 gold or silver coins, or arras, to the officiant for the traditional blessing for a couple vowing to take care of one another, according to Supreme Weddings.

    Train Bearer

    • Boys under the age of 12 can accompany the bride down the aisle as train bearers. If the young male is shy about walking in the group of bridesmaids, ask him to fill the important position of carrying the end of the bridal train.
