Identification
-
White grubs are commonly known as white grub worms or just as grub worms. These insects are actually scarab beetles in the larval stage. The Texas AgriLife Extension indicates that there are more than 100 different species of scarab beetles. White grub worms may be the larvae of June bugs, green June beetles, Japanese beetles, or Southern masked chafers, as well as many other scarab beetle species.
Effects
-
Grub worms destroy grasses and root crops, according to Anne P. Mitchell at the All About Worms website. In addition to a dying lawn or poor vegetable crop, an increase in animals or insects around the lawn or garden such as raccoons, birds and wasps may indicate a grub worm infestation. Dig up the first several inches of soil and look for larvae to be sure.

Prevention/Solution
