Nero 8 was first released to consumers on Oct. 1, 2007. It had an initial price tag of $99.99 in retail stores and a $79.99 price on the Nero website. Nero 8 has since been surpassed by further revisions of the Nero software.

Nero 8 features the ability to support Windows Vista and several prior Windows operating systems. It also allows users to burn data to Blu-Ray disks, DVDs and CDs. Users also have the ability to copy data from CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray disks. Nero 8 provides the ability to burn disk images that they download from the Internet. Users can also use a variety of Nero 8 backup and recovery tools. Nero 8 can also import and convert music and video files into a variety of file types. Users are able to play their music and video files directly from Nero 8 as well.

To use Nero 8, you are required to have a DVD-ROM for installation (unless you downloaded the software from Nero's website). Additionally, you must have Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows Vista installed on your computer. DirectX version 9.0c or higher, Internet Explorer 6.0, a 1 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM, 1.2 GB hard drive space and a 32 MB graphics card are also required to use Nero 8.
