Inkscape & Scrapbooking

Inkscape & Scrapbooking thumbnail
Inkscape allows you to create original scrapbooking embellishments on your computer.

Inkscape is a free program similar to Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw that allows users to edit and create vector graphic images in Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG) format. SVG files can be added to digital scrapbook pages, printed on paper or cut using a die cut machine.

  1. Create Journaling Blocks and Titles

    • Use Inkscape to create journaling blocks and titles for your scrapbook pages. The text tool can use any font on your computer, and can transform any of your text vertically, horizontally or to fill a shape or follow a path.

Create SVG Images to Die Cut

    • Using Inkscape's drawing tools, including the pencil, pen and shape tools, you can create original shapes to cut using your die cut machine and software such as Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL). Connect your Cricut machine to your computer via USB, import your SVG files into SCAL from Inkscape and cut. This allows you to die cut shapes without purchasing Cricut cartridges.

    Create Original Embellishments

    • Create original clip art and embellishments for your pages. With the drawing and shape tools, design the element you need, in the size and color you want. These elements can then be added to digital pages or printed for paper scrapbooking.
