How do I Become a Building Inspector in Minnesota?
Building inspectors examine buildings and other structures to ensure they have been constructed and currently meet safety, zoning and other building ordinances. Minnesota building inspectors are not required to obtain formal licensing as of 2010.

As of 2010, building inspection training is offered by ABSBI (A Better School of Building Inspection), Kaplan Professional Schools of Minnesota as well as the American Home Inspectors Training Institute (AHIT).
Coursework

Courses within a building inspector training program commonly consist of inspecting structures, structural inspection guide, dynamics of structures, inspecting foundations, slab construction and how to inspect building exteriors, roofs, electrical systems and plumbing.
-
Join a National Organization
-
Join a national building/home inspector organization, such as the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI). This organization offers training materials and adds credibility to an inspector. The NAHI features a Minnesota chapter and lists its members on its website to promote their services.
