Windows Defender & Anti Virus

Windows Defender is an anti-virus program made and distributed by Microsoft as part of its security software suite. Windows Defender is free and can be downloaded from the Microsoft website.

Spyware Protection

Spyware is software that uses your computer to track your habits and deliver unwanted advertising, usually in the form of pop-ups, or performs other malicious tasks. Once configured, Windows Defender can scan and remove spyware automatically. If a program you want is accidentally removed, it can be recovered easily.

Many spyware infections occur from accidentally browsing unsafe websites without proper protection. Windows Defender works in the background to prevent infection by monitoring the various methods a computer virus may use to gain access to the computer through the Internet.

Microsoft uses a research team to actively search for new spyware and find ways to to keep Windows Defender updated with counter-measures for the most recent security threats. You can volunteer to provide information from your version of Windows Defender that will help other users stay secure.
