An emergency can strike at any time, and you must survive. According to Ready America, "this means having your own food, water and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three days." One gallon of water for each person per day for drinking and bathing and a three-day supply of non-perishable food for yourself, your family and your pets are optimal. If you have an infant, baby formula should top the list of necessary essentials.
