Good stock traders do research and stick to good trading strategies.

Good stock traders have a few characteristics in common such as good research skills, patience and discipline. Good traders understand the benefits of developing their own unique trading strategies based on their personalities and risk thresholds.

  1. Discipline

    • Discipline is the key to successful trading. Discipline means the trader sticks to his trading strategy and does not try to make unplanned trades based on sudden shifts in the market.

    Research

    • Successful trading is a result of hours of research and years of experience and practice. Each trade is well researched and analyzed before any money is put on the line. Traders need to understand how to read and interpret charts as well as historical information.

    Strategy

    • Successful traders always trade based on the amount of risk they are willing to take. Risking more than you are comfortable with does not automatically result in higher gains and will usually end up as a loss.
