Facebook is a pioneer social networking website that allows you to post pictures, events, personal updates and more. You may experience problems with your browser that prevents you from fully utilizing your Facebook accounts. Some common issues can be easily addressed.

  1. Basics

    • The first step with any browser-related issue is to make sure you have the latest version of your Internet browser. The second step is to clear your browser's cache and cookies. Refer to additional resources regarding browser-specific instructions to upgrade or clear cache and cookies. If the problem still persists, add "www.facebook.com" and "http://fbcdn.net" to your browser's and antivirus program's list of allowed websites.

    Internet Explorer: Cookies

    • If you receive an error indicating that your cookies are not enabled, click on your browser's "Tools" tab, select "Internet Options," choose "Security" and reset the settings to default. Also, add "www.facebook.com" to the Trusted Sites security zone, located under the same tab.

    Internet Explorer: Chat

    • If you have the latest version of Internet Explorer and your chat box is telling you to upgrade, click on "Page," select "Compatibility Settings," add "www.facebook.com" and restart the browser.
