What Does Medicaid Part D Cover?

According to the New York State Department of Health, all persons covered under federal and state administered Medicaid who are eligible for Medicare receive prescription drug coverage under the Medicare part D program.

    • Medicaid and Medicare are government-sponsored health insurance programs, funded by the federal government and administered by individual states.

    Part D

    • Part D coverage provides eligible individuals and families brand name and generic prescription drugs funded by the Medicare program. In some instances a co-payment is required from the covered person.

    • In the majority of cases, Medicare part D coverage replaces Medicaid prescription drug coverage. Medicare part D coverage can be used at participating pharmacies.
