An alternative to weightlifting is to use your own body weight as resistance. Bodyweight exercises can be performed anywhere and do not cost anything.

  1. Wall Sit

    • Stand 2 feet away from a wall, facing away from it, and bend your knees until your back reaches the wall. Slide your back down the wall until your knees reach a 90-degree angle and hold the position.

    Chair Dip

    • Sit on the edge of a chair with your hands gripping the seat on either side. Lift your weight off the chair and slip your body forward. Lower yourself until your buttocks are a foot below the seat. Push yourself back up and repeat the procedure.

    Hip Bridges

    • Lie on your back and bend your knees so that your heels are on the floor. Dig your heels into the ground and raise your hips off the ground, keeping your abs tight the entire time. Slowly lower your hips again, to an inch off the ground, and repeat the procedure.
