What Do I Do After My Granite Countertops Are Professionally Installed?
A product of the earth's core, granite is one of the hardest and toughest materials nature has to offer. It is both heat-proof and scratch-proof, making granite a life-long investment for homeowners. After your granite countertops have been installed, they require only minimal upkeep. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Cleaning Granite
-
Keep granite countertops clean by wiping them with a microfiber cloth. Clean weekly using a damp cloth and granite cleaner formulated specifically for stone. Avoid using other chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
Applying Sealer
-
Depending on the porosity, re-sealing may be necessary one to five years after installation. Apply granite sealer when water no longer beads on granite surfaces. Granite sealers are applied by wiping on with a cloth and wiping off any excess; wait 10 to 30 minutes and re-apply.
-
Polish
-
An occasional application of granite polish will bring out the beauty of the stone. Polishing granite countertops enhances the color and pattern combination of the stone and can aid in sealing.
