A down comforter is essentially a cloth bag filled with feathers or fabric that serves the same purpose as a blanket or quilt. It is heavy and large and can be difficult to wash. A duvet cover protects the down comforter. Does this Spark an idea?

    • A duvet cover is a protective fabric cover for a duvet, or down comforter. Down comforters are heavy and take a long time to dry. Using a cover decreases the need to wash the comforter. A duvet cover can also be used as a light sheet in the summer. Owning multiple covers is a way to periodically redecorate a room.

    Troubleshooting

    • Depending on how the duvet cover is sewn, covers can sometimes slip off the down comforter. An inexpensive way to fix that is to buy comforter clips. These clips fit on the inside of the duvet cover and clip to the corners of the duvet.

    Size

    • Duvet covers come in the same sizes as other bedding: king, queen, full and twin. The cover should be the same size as the down comforter. For example, a king-size duvet cover goes with a king-size duvet. Choosing the correct size helps to prevent duvet covers from slipping off the duvet.
