Canon Photo Paper Comparison

Canon offers five types of photo paper: High Gloss, Glossy, Semi-Glossy, Matte and Fine Art. The type of paper you choose depends on how you plan to display your photos, your expectations for print quality and your budget.

High Gloss Paper

High Gloss Paper is similar to the paper used by professional photo labs. It is a heavy weight paper that holds ink well and creates vibrant prints. Used with professional photo ink, photos printed on this paper can last up to 200 years in an album.

Glossy, Semi-Glossy, and Matte Paper

Canon's Glossy, Semi-Glossy, and Matte papers are lighter weight and less expensive than the high-gloss paper. They are intended for amateur photographers who want to print photos at home to display in frames or albums. Semi-Glossy paper has a softer finish, with less glare than Glossy paper. Matte paper has no gloss at all.

Fine Art Paper

Canon Fine Art paper comes in a variety of textured finishes that capture the subtle details and shades in your photos that regular paper might not. This is the most expensive paper and meant for creating fine art prints, such as those displayed in galleries and museums.
