Definition of IPA Insurance thumbnail
IPA offers both long-term and short-term insurance options to clients.

IPA stands for Insurance Planning Associates. IPA offers its services to corporations and privates clients. Types of insurances offered include: life insurance, group health, individual health, disability insurance, 401(k) plan, individual dental insurance and others.

  1. Description

    • IPA recruits doctors and health care providers to join its medical group. This medical group provides care to patients who are members of HMOs and other health insurance plans.

    Benefit

    • The benefit of your medical provider being a part of IPA is that the fees paid by the insurance company to the health care provider are predetermined. This helps to keep insurance costs low.

    Drawback

    • The drawback of physicians being members of IPA is that no matter the procedure done, the reimbursement is the same. This is bad for patients because doctors may be more hesitant to to perform certain procedures, especially if they feel they will not be compensated adequately for the work.
