Background

Various training courses are offered to prepare you for a job as a computer technician. The most well-known is the CompTIA A+ certification. In addition, large computer manufacturers offer training specific to their hardware, such as the HP Certified Professional qualification.

Colleges in your local area are also likely to offer computer maintenance courses, which may be linked to these certifications or to other vocational qualifications.

Qualifications

Generally these courses are followed by exams, which are necessary to gain the certification. In the example of the popular A+ course, written and practical exams are both required.
