  1. Choices

    • Head wraps can be purchased ready-made. A long scarf is another option, providing it is long enough to wrap around the head at least two times. A scarf that is 1 ½ to 2 yards in length should be adequate. You can also make your own from fabrics to coordinate with specific outfits. Choose lightweight fabrics that wrap and drape easily.

    Uses

    • Head wraps are worn in some countries as a part of the native attire. Others wear head wraps to cover the head for protection from the sun. Women who have lost hair to chemotherapy may also choose to wear head wraps. For some it is a fashion accessory that gives an exotic look to an outfit.

    Instructions

    • To wrap the head, stretch the head wrap across the back of your head being sure the sides are even. Bring the right side of the head wrap around and across the front of your head and the left side around and across the top of your head. Wrap the left side behind the head over the right side. Wrap the right side of the wrap similarly to the left side. Fold and tuck the two end pieces in the front of your head and secure with bobby pins.
