Scrap metal recycling is a potential revenue source for people needing extra income. Finding an adequate supply can be a challenge, but there are a few common places people can look to find a regular supply of scrap.

Scrap Hauling

Old appliances are good candidates for scrap.

Placing an ad on Craigslist or the local newspaper advertising scrap hauling is good way of getting scrap. Many people have old appliances, pipes and other heavy metal items that are hard to get rid of. Offering free pick up and disposal can get a large number of customers.

Contractors and Builders

Contractors can be a source of scrap metal.

Many contractors like electricians, plumbers and mechanics have scrap parts left around as a result of their business. Some have too little scrap to make scrapping worth their while, but one person hauling for several small companies can collect a lot of scrap.
