What Does Frogged Mean in Crochet?

A crochet project does not always meet expectations. A crocheter may decide to scrap their creation. Unraveling a crochet project is called frogging because you will "rip it" apart. People frog projects for many reasons.

Fix a Mistake

Undo one row at a time until you find your stitching error. No need to rip a whole project if your mistake is only a few rows back. Keep track of frogged rows to know which ones to crochet again.

Wrong Gauge

Check the gauge of your crochet project. If your gauge is not correct, then you may consider ripping the whole piece and using a different size crochet hook. Make a gauge swatch to determine if you need a larger or smaller crochet hook.

Recycle Yarn

Unravel sweaters or other crochet projects to recycle the yarn for a new project. Begin by ripping out any sewn seams. You can find cheap sweaters at rummage sales and thrift stores.
