    Supplies

    • Basic art supplies and household items are all parents and kids need to create bright, fun and festive Christmas tree ornaments. Collect pinecones in the yard. Gather Styrofoam balls, craft paint, cookie cutters, cardstock, glitter, pipe cleaners, pony beads and colorful drinking straws to finish out the supplies list.

    Methods

    • Glue a Styrofoam ball to the top of a pinecone to create a snow bird. Paint the ball and pinecone with craft paint. Trace a tail and beak on cardstock and glue it to the bird. Trace shapes from Christmas cookie cutters on heavy white card stock. Cover each side with glue and sprinkle glitter all over the entire shape. Thread beads and colorful pieces of plastic straws on to pipe cleaners. Trace a star shape on a piece of paper and use it as a guideline for bending the cleaners into a star shape. Twist the ends together to secure pipe cleaners together.
