Cat Toilet Problems
Cats are generally very picky about their bathroom habits. If a cat is expected to use a litter box but relieves itself elsewhere, the problem may be easily corrected. Does this Spark an idea?

Prevention/Solution
-
Cats have very strong noses. If a cat continues to urinate in the same spot over and over again, it may be because it can smell its scent from prior incidents. This scent will encourage the cat to keep going in this spot. A strong enzyme cleaner can remove this scent.
Misconceptions
-
According to Dr. Richard Polsky, director of Animal Behavior Counseling Services in Los Angeles, what is sometimes mistaken for a urine accident is actually the cat spraying to mark its territory. This is common in males that have not been fixed, but can also happen with females.

Fun Fact
-
A cat may develop an aversion to the litter box if it is frightened while inside of it by another cat or perhaps a pet dog. Similarly, if the cat's owner corners a cat to catch it near the litter box, the cat can become afraid of it and no longer use it.
Significance
-
Cats sometimes express their anger or jealousy over a disruption of their routine, such as a new baby or moving to a different home, by going to the bathroom outside of the litter box.
