What Type of Glass Should You Use for a Mimosa?
A mimosa is a combination of one part champagne and three parts freshly squeezed orange juice and is generally served in a champagne glass. It is also acceptable to serve a mimosa in a collins glass or white wine glass. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Champagne Flute
-
If champagne glasses are not available, mimosas may be served in a variety of other glasses. According to the American Bartenders School, mimosas should be served in fluted champagne glasses. Champagne glasses generally hold 4 to 5 ounces of liquid. The American Bartenders School does not encourage adding ice to mimosas served in champagne flutes.
Collins Glass
-
Collins glasses may be used to serve mimosas. Most collins glasses hold between 8 and 13 ounces of liquid. DrinkSwap.com recommends pouring orange juice over 2 ice cubes in a collins glass before adding chilled champagne.
-
White Wine Glass
-
White wine glasses are narrower than red wine glasses. GreatPartyRecipes.com suggests serving mimosas in white wine glasses when champagne flutes are unavailable. White wine glasses hold between 7 and 13 ounces of liquid and, like champagne flutes, holding their long stems prevents warming of chilled liquids. Mimosas served in white wine glasses should not include ice.
