  1. Height

    • The hibiscus grows continually throughout the year in warmer climates. In order for the plant to reach its full height, plant it in full sun, water regularly and fertilize as needed.

    Planting

    • The ideal time to transplant the hibiscus is February. Use a good commercial potting mix and gradually increase water amounts. Fertilizer should be added to soil in March or April to have an abundance of blooms.

    Pests

    • Aphids and spider mites are common pests that attack the hibiscus plant. The aphids are found on the tips of the stems, new leaves and buds. Aphids are a common contributor to stunted growth in the hibiscus plant.
