The many branches of this ever-growing tree have been collected and displayed in a customizable portal called "iGoogle," which allows users to instantly access summarized content from their favorite sites.

Once America's leading internet service provider, "America Online" (or "AOL") joined the portal business in 2004. Though its approach wasn't considerably different than existing portals, the company had an already-loyal subscriber base to help it launch this new offering.
